Not much racing remains for our 2022 season, as our 3rd GPVWC season ended last week.
This was our first season in Formula Sprint 1 (previously known as Supercup), and it wasn’t the easiest of campaigns for sure.
Our original lineup didn’t last long, as Gijs Sonneveld had to withdraw from the series after 3 rounds. Vincent Gutt raced in 15 rounds and only missed round 2 in Bahrain, while David Jundt, Scott Mitchell and Remco De Zeeuw all raced as emergency drivers in the first half of the season. In round 6 at Monaco, we finally solved the lineup issues, with FSR-mainstay Stavros Mouzaidis committing for the season.
First half of the season wasn’t great, especially because of the lack of stability in our lineup: we weren’t able to score many points until the British GP (round 8), where Stavros got himself in the top 6 in race 1.
From that moment, we started to improve our results drastically, with Stavros challenging for top 5 results and Vincent scoring more points. We still had some unlucky moments, but we were able to close the gap to top 7 in the teams standings.
Sadly, it was too late and we had to settle for 9th place overall. It was still a promising end of the season, and we collected valuable data for the future.
We will now wait for GPVWC Day at the start of December to know our division for 2023, but planning for next season is well underway already.
